I liked the Shiva Trilogy for it’s plot and the details. However, at the time Shiva Trilogy came into the market – there were so many other books on mythologies. I wonder what bug caught all the authors. This became the only topic people were writing about so the content became too common. These days I have given myself a break.

I agree Ramya. I was a tad disappointed in this one. In fact even the oath of the Vayuputras was also a bit of a let down for me. That said, I am still amazed at the writers skill in creating something new out of something eons old. That definitely is a special skill, probably if one was a first-time Amish reader, he would find this one compelling as well!

Believe it or not, the husband and I were just discussing about buying the translated copy of Ponniyan Selvan when this book also came up in our conversation. I told him I haven’t read any reviews and your review popped up in my Twitter feed
I loved the Meluha series, so I’m a little disappointed when you say this did not live up to the expectations. I did not like ‘Asura’. So, do you suggest I pick this up or not?

Okay I am a bit of blind Amish fan even as I concede the book wasn’t as dramatic as most other versions of the Ramayan. I agree – it could have been more of a page-turner. I reviewed it here in case you want to look at another perspective.

Lata I still consider a decent read… The second part came out yesterday and I shall review it I finish reading. I rate his first series higher though. Infact when Immortals of meluha came out… I simply loved it.

I love the way Amish plots and comes with convincing storylines. Only, in this case, I will ignore the language shortcomings. You convinced me to read it.
